In 2015 the United Nations declared 2016 to 2025 the “International Decade for People of African Descent” with the goal of raising awareness of the plight of this ethnic group after 175 years since emancipation. Mr. Danny Glover, renown award winner actor, producer and civil rights proponent, was delegated as a Civil Rights UN Ambassador and was touring the African-descendant communities in Honduras and Costa Rica in January 2018.
FARCARIBE, the Limon port authority, JAPDEVA, and several other community organizations had the honor of receiving Mr. Glover and his delegation in Limon City for lunch and an extended conversations on community development, youth education programs and investor attraction.
